Victory Life Family,
The Great Faith Adventure that our Heavenly Father has planned for us is a thrilling, exciting, breathtaking, awe-inspiring, awesome, exhilarating, stimulating, and gripping journey! The year 2021 is right before us! We must declare and prepare to be people of great faith. Let's accept the challenge of spreading the good news of Jesus through every neighborhood and nation! As you look back at the year 2020, you might discover that you have thoughts or experiences that you are ready to leave behind.
As I glance back over this past year, God's comfort, companionship, and guidance have continued to be ever-present. My emotions were all over the charts, from immense happiness that our son got married and we gained another daughter, to sadness because some of our closest friends left this earth and are now with Christ. I watched many of you excel through the challenges of this year, while others failed and are still in despair. I don't always understand the struggles, however, I trust that God knows best and he values all of us. 2021 is going to be a Faith Adventure for us all. Personally, my wife Kristal and I are ready to leave 2020 behind and accept the next assignment of this new year head-on!
James, a bondservant of Christ Jesus, said in chapter 2 verse 20, "But do you know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?" He was illustrating that when we separate faith and works we become empty-headed. James is encouraging the body of Christ that faith produces Godly action, and through righteous faith in Christ, fruitful actions will follow. In other words, you will know a believer by their fruit.
Faith and works should go together. Faith produces works; and works make faith perfect, meaning "mature or complete." I pray that the trials and testing you endured in 2020 helped to ground you in your faith. In other words, your faith response determines your spiritual position. It reveals the true condition of your heart. Together, let's choose to examine our hearts and remove anything that is displeasing to God.
This next year is going to be the season of faith and works functioning at the same time in your spiritual walk. Accept the faith adventure!
